Improv Lisboa jammed Irreverente and now they don’t know how to unjam it

Irreverente is going strong, with people from all over the world coming to Lisboa for improv. I saw lots of familiar faces on stage, with Florith, Sasha, and David showing their world-class improv. Twas truly amazing to see.

Between showcases, performances and minglings, Improv Lisboa hosted its own jam. We have the pics to prove it! Gonna tell you a little secret: I thought only John, Susana, Henrique and Sasha would join. How wrong I was. By the end, the entire entrance of the building had been taken over by this open air improv session.

If you ask me what the scenes were, I can tell you there was a murder at a funeral by a french guy, and that was related to cannibalistic chicken. I’m still thinking about those chicken though. What was their motivation? Why did they do it? I end up thinking these chicken had much more depth, much more meaning and philosophical nuance than maybe a mind that’s uninitiated in improv would assume. As Thomans Mann wrote “All in all, this is nothing less than the old argument over which came first, the chicken or the egg, an argument that is so extraordinarily perplexing because of two facts: first, we cannot imagine an egg that has not been laid by a hen; and second, no hen exists that has not crept out of a postulated egg.” Right?? Was this a scene about how eggs and chicken are actually a metaphor for how meaningless life is? The certainty of death? Geez… And we laughed…

Thank you tons Henrique for the pics 🙂
