There used to be a huge show in Portugal named ‘O juiz decide’. We’d have the oldest grudges playing out in screams and sassy comments in a televised court. It was glorious. Neighbors fighting it out over garage entrances, siblings showing off all their pent-up resentment in the least productive way possible, employees and employers ramping up their unreasonableness to the extreme. All this happening in front of a judge who more looked like the owner of a cafe in Beja, and slowly, very slowly asked questions and lead the witnesses. “So this and this is what you’re saying, right?”. It was amazing.
‘João, is the courtroom drama gonna be like that?’
