From Torre de Belém to Jardim da Estrela, from Campo Grande to Prosa, we’ve improvised all over Lisboa in 2024. Sometimes only 3, sometimes over 20, sometimes too hot, sometimes too cold. I’m thankful for all of them. It is not lost in me that so many people have given their time, money and energy to be a part of this. And it has been truly fulfilling to see it catching speed. For a while during the Summer, it seemed like no one was into Improv, and I had accepted that it would take years for the community to grow. Good that it wasn’t like that.
There’s a special place of appreciation in me for the regulars who help the community. They offer a welcoming experience for the new comers, and make them feel that improv is about more than being the funniest. I know how I started improv and I was definitely not great. I would barely enter the designated stage and then only stare at the other performer, my hands in my pockets, throwing some lines every now and again. But there’s something about it, and if you wanna explore it, IL’s open sessions are there for you. It is good stuff that I see.
We’ve been working on something parallel to the Open Sessions that we think you’ll love too. It will happen early next year.
Oh yes, and I know the music cuts short on the montage. Next year it’ll be better.
